Our approach

SomHack does collect and use some data to run the platform and improve your experience. We try to keep this limited to what we actually need.

SomHack does not sell your data. We also do not share your data with outside parties for their own marketing.

When we share data

We only share data where it is needed to run the platform. This can include trusted providers that help us with:

• Hosting and running the website
• Analytics and performance
• Payment processing
• Security and abuse protection
• Email and sign in
• Legal compliance when we are required to respond

These providers only get the data they need to do their part, and they are expected to protect it.

Analytics data

We collect basic analytics about how people use the site. This can include pages visited, clicks, usage patterns, page performance, and general device and browser information.

We use this to improve the website, optimize pages, fix problems with the user experience, improve performance, and understand what users need. It helps us make the platform better for everyone.

Account data for signed in users

When you create an account and use SomHack, we store data linked to your account so the platform can work for you. This can include:

• Your name and email
• Your profile picture, if you provide one
• Enrolled paths, modules, and labs
• Lesson progress and assessment results
• Saved activity
• Your plan, subscription, and payment status

Payment data

We use payment status data to give you access to what you paid for.

Payments may be handled through Premier Payment Gateway (PPG), powered by Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS), for global card payments, through WaafiPay for EVC Plus and Salaam Somali Bank linked payments, and through the eDahab Mobile Money API for eDahab mobile money payments.

SomHack does not store your full card details. Card payment details are handled by the payment providers.

Security and device data

We collect device, browser, IP, session, and related security data. We use this to protect the platform and your account against spam, bots, automation, account attacks, and other abuse.
